Internship Exploration Enrollment/Interest Form (EPSY 575/LA&S 490)

***NOTICE: As of 4:30 p.m., August 25th, we are no longer enrolling students in LA&S 490 or EPSY 575 for Fall 2017.

EPSY 575 (formerly PRE 575)/LA&S 490: Internship Exploration

Are you needing or wanting credit for an upcoming internship? If you want to complete an internship that is not related to your major, your department doesn't offer an internship course, you don't meet the requirements for your department's internship course, you are not accepted into a major yet, or you need to explore another option, you may want to consider EPSY 575/LA&S 490: Internship Exploration. This course requires permission from the instructor to enroll, additional coursework outside of the internship conducted via the Internet, working a minimum number of hours a week at the internship, and finding an internship via your own connections or the resources at the University Career Center: sample syllabus (pdf). Approved course for Goal 6 (Innovation & Creativity) of the KU Core.

Semesters taught: fall, spring, and summer -- online (1-5 credits); credits are determined by curricular needs and number of internship hours.

In order to receive a permission number for the course to enroll, please complete this form to ensure you meet the qualifications. Once submitted and reviewed, you will either receive an email with your permission code or a request for further information. If you have specific questions, you can type those when you complete the form.

If you are still in the process of searching for an internship, the career coaches at the University Career Center can help! Call 785-864-3624 or request an appointment online.

Thanks!

Erin Wolfram

You will need to be participating in your internship during the same semester in which you are enrolled in the course.
The beginning and end dates of your internship need to minimally align with the dates of the semester in which you would like to enroll: fall internships (end of August to beginning of December), spring internships (end of January to beginning of May), summer internships (beginning of June to end of July).
In the fall and spring, to meet the course requirements you will need to intern 8-14 hours (15-19 in the summer) per week to enroll in 1-3 credits or 15+ hours (20+ in the summer) per week to enroll in 1-5 credits--the more credits, the more tuition but the coursework stays the same.
